Hot on the foot of performing another American-themed concert on Saturday at the wonderful Lord Mayor’s Chapel in Bristol I’m carrying on that theme. How about introducing some American music into the repertoire for your wedding reception – this would be particularly apt if you have guests from America. The Lochrian Ensemble has a vast repertoire of American music mostly on the lighter side with tunes from musical theatre a favourite as well as the American staples of Gershwin, Leroy Anderson and Scott Joplin. I always think that Joplin goes down well at weddings although the string quartet sound is somewhat different to the original scoring of piano solo.
