We have been playing lots of popular songs at weddings of late – from every recent musical era.
One of my favourites is God Only Knows which was recorded by the American Rock Group The Beach Boys in 1966.
The Lochrian Ensemble has a fabulous arrangement which always puts a smile on my face. The lyrics aren’t bad either at evoking the deeper meaning of being lucky enough to find that perfect partner for life – what could be more ideal to include amongst your wedding music choices:
I may not always love you
But as long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I’ll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I’d be without you
If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me
God only knows what I’d be without you…
