For my wedding music piece of the week, I have chosen the main theme from the English film ‘Ladies in Lavender’ composed by Nigel Hess and performed by the wonderful violinist Joshua Bell. The Lochrian Ensemble has just bought a string quartet arrangement of this beautiful piece and we are looking forward to playing it in the summer as the chosen piece for one of our brides to walk down the aisle to on her special day. Can’t wait to play it in the wedding ceremony. Take a few minutes to have a listen to Joshua Bell playing this sublime music and enjoy.

The film was written by Charles Dance and is set in picturesque coastal Cornwall, in a tight-knit fishing village in 1936, and stars Judi Dench and Maggie Smith who play the leading roles of the two sisters. The story follows the sisters and their relationship with a gifted young Polish violinist from Krakow, who has beenĀ thrown overboard by a storm and who the sisters discover on the beach and nurse him back to health.
